Emily was growing up fast.
The sleeves which used to tickle her palms were now nearer her elbows, her skirts had crept up her shins to her knees and as for her shoes…at first they’d started to pinch, then she’d had to wrestle them onto her feet and now when she walked her big toe was peeking through the seams back at her.
“Come on” said Mum It’s time to get you some new shoes’. New shoes? What will they be like? Emily’s imagination started to whir.
If the shoe fits, it will tell you a story. It will lead you on a dance to who knows where! So pick a shoebox and see what tale unfolds!
‘If the Shoe Fits’ is a 50 minute theatre show created for children aged 4 and above.
The show transports children into the magical world of a very special kind of shoe shop, where every box contains it’s own special story. The performers bring the shoes and their stories to life using physical theatre, dance, story-telling and music, creating a delightful visual world that engages children in tales of new shoes, old shoes, shoes with laces and velcro, and even a re-telling of the Emperors new…shoes!
Cscape’s skilled team of dancers have joined forces with a winning collaborative team to create the If the Shoe Fits. The creative team includes writer Anna Maria Murphy (Radio 4 and Kneehigh’s Tristan and Yseult/ Red Shoes), Director Simon Harvey (assistant director of Kneehigh), acclaimed physical performer Bec Applebee (Red Shoes and Oh Mary) and Visual Artist and designer John Keys. The result is a visual delight, and a theatre show for families which is funny and engaging, setting children’s imaginations alight!
